inclosure 2.

Enclosure 3.

Sir,

I have the honour to transmit a copy of a

letter dated the 24th April, 1922, from the Hon. Secretary

of the Union Church, Hongkong, applying for a site in the

Kowloon Peninsula on which to build a church. The Union

Church provides for members of the community who belong to

the Church of Scotland, the Presbyterian Church of England,

Congregationalists and Baptiste.

2.

The site applied for in this letter is not available and after much consideration a site containing 65,340 square feet near the Kowloon Hospital on the new road now being made in the Northern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, shown on the enclosed plan, has been selected and is acceptable to the Trustees of the Union Church, I enclose the particulars and conditions on which it is proposed to grant a lease of the land, and I should be glad to receive your approval of them,

3.

The site will be expensive to develop as it

is rather hilly, but Sir Paul Chater is providing the necessary funds, and so far as can be seen there will be

a congregation of about two hundred. The Government proposes to reserve the site for a period of three years,

and
